Taupō Family Centre Inc. is a Te Kahui Kahu Level TWO-Accredited service.

Our stakeholders include the Ministry of Social Development, which contracts Taupō Family Centre Inc. to provide specialised Sexual Violence and Family Violence support services. Funding enables us to provide critical support to individuals and families affected by violence, improving outcomes for whānau.  

Our team includes qualified practitioners and kaimahi who specialise in violence and crisis management and provide a quality service that is whānau directed and whānau led meeting the needs of our community.

Our Kaupapa is to eliminate Family Violence and enhance wellbeing.

Our service is value-based and recognises Te Tiriti o Waitangi, providing culturally inclusive services to all members of our community.

Sexual Violence Services

Our multidisciplinary team provides crisis support, specialised sexual violence counselling, ongoing support and advocacy, and interventions that operate from an Indigenous worldview, are culturally effective and responsive to both immediate and longer-term needs following sexual violence, and are based on principles of good practice.

Our services include:

  • Psycho-social crisis support services

  • Trauma informed and responsive approach

  • Emergency face to face sessions including crisis counselling

  • Crisis social work support

  • Individual, family and whānau support

  • Advocacy and support (Including callout)

  • Referrals and support to navigate and access other relevant services and community support

  • Culturally inclusive and responsive support that recognises and respects each person’s culture, identity, values and individual circumstances

Family Violence

Our service is focused on breaking the cycle of violence and supporting people and whānau to eliminate violence from their lives, strengthen safety and wellbeing, and live free from violence. We recognise the importance of understanding the whole person within the context of their whānau, relationships, culture, environment and individual circumstances. Specialised services are delivered by a multidisciplinary team of specialised practitioners, providing coordinated, trauma responsive and wholistic support.

Whānau Resilience Contract

A wraparound wholistic approach to wellbeing and offers a safe and confidential space for whānau to explore challenges and develop coping strategies to eliminate violence. Our experienced kaimahi and social workers provide whānau directed practical and emotional support and resources to empower whānau to navigate difficult situations, restore mana, and build resilience. By working together collaboratively, we aim to strengthen whānau relationships, enhance communication skills, and promote overall wellbeing within the whānau. Our wellbeing support plans are designed to meet the unique needs of each individual, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-efficacy to overcome adversity and thrive.
